He's Coming Home!

We are getting so close--word on the street is that Brad will be home in about a WEEK! I'm kicking it into overdrive, trying to get the house cleaned up, the piles of laundry washed and put away, the garage cleaned out and his car washed and ready to go for his arrival. Manicures, pedicures, waxing, plucking and lingerie. Haircuts for the kids and the final preparations on our upcoming family vacation. Hanging banners, making signs. It will be a hectic, crazy, dash-to-the-finish-line kind of week, but I am READY! Bring on the insanity, my man is coming home!!

Yesterday, I got a preview of what is to come. My good friend, Molly, and her daughter Ireland got to welcome home their soldier, Chris, after a year-long separation. I went out and took pictures to document the event ('cause the last thing you want in your hands when he comes home is a camera, but pictures are nice to have). It was great, getting to see them reunite, the tears flowing, Ireland positively BEAMING at her daddy. Aubrey played at a friend's house during this time, but I took Aiden with me to the welcome home ceremony. He was so excited for the Heatherlys (Ireland has become like a second little sister to him over the past year), but once the hoopla of the ceremony was over and it was time for us to go home without our soldier, he broke down into tears, followed by gut-wrenching sobs. My heart broke for my little man. This deployment has been tough on him, but like me, he is just tired. Tired of the separation, tired of a grumpy, over-extended Mama, tired of people telling him to 'be the man of the house.' (Which, by the way, I HATE, but that is a rant for another day....)

So, we are anxiously awaiting our "official" call to tell us he's on a plane and headed this way. In the meantime, I'll be frantically trying to get things in order so my husband can come home, relax, unwind--and I can do the same, snuggled right into his strong arms.
